Device size - not really. There may be a slight hit when going above 256GB, you are not in that range. The types of devices *could* make a difference - for example, if the replicate server was on RAID 6, the backups could take a HEAVY hit as the reads are probably in the 20-30ms/IO range due to the RAID 6 physical read penalty. However, I generally see the backup server write performance as being the bottleneck and usually due to the filesystem - e.g. heavy use of filesystem journaling - or the filesystem is on synchronous block replicated devices (most common issue).
