Also consider adding a threshold (my preference is a few thresholds) to the master's logsegment segment.
The thresholdaction can be to automatically issue 'dump tran master/truncate' whenever the associated free space threshold is crossed.
This should greatly reduce the chance of the log filling up during the day and then having to wait for a) manual intervention to clear the log or b) the nightly backup/pruning job to clear the log.
