It sounds like it is trying to read an older version of the ado.net driver.
Can you add the Sybase.AdoNet4.AseClient.dll to the registry?
What version of Windows are you using?
What version of Studio are you using?
You can get a tool called Process Explorer.
If you run this as administrator you will be able to see what .dlls your application is picking up and what location they are finding them at and what version they are.
