Re: adaptive server was shutdown

Bret,

Textbook Technical Support response. Excellent!

Doaa, as far as RE-configuring the timeslice, I would be EXTREMELY cautious about this and would do this only under Technical Support guidance as it can have system wide repercussions and should only be attempted as a last resort.

.

I would open the Technical Support case, and wait for their expert assistance. In the meantime, it would be nice if you could gather more information about what was running on the ASE server at the time of the stack trace.

E.g.

1. Operating System and ASE versions

2. Is this a production server

3. What was the load on the system. OLTP? DSS? what day of the week was it, what time, what

jobs where executing, how many people were on the server etc.

4. Was anything out of the ordinary running when this happened

5. When was the last time statistics where updated

6. When was the last time the server was rebooted

7. If this is reproduceable it would be nice to run sysmon at the time of the problem.

e.g. start the run 5 minutes before so you can see what is going on and capture the output.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Jean-Pierre
