Dear Sybase experts,
Greetings !!
We are planning to migrate a customer’s ASE environment from Windows to Linux platform (non-SAP).
I am looking for the best practices,methodologies and any detail steps of moving these databases from ASE16 on Windows to ASE16 on Linux platform.
A relatively big environment from migration perspective with 2 databases worth 1 TB+, few 400 GB+ and overall data size is around 7.1 TB of total db sizes summed up.
* Existing ASE Version – Adaptive Server Enterprise/16.0 GA PL05/EBF 23373
* Existing OS Version – Windows 64 bit.
* Proposed ASE Version – 16.x
* No. of ASE instances to be migrated - Production, DR (replication using SRS), Development.
* Around 40+ databases to be migrated to new hosting environment, most of them are part of existing SAP replication.
It is basically a migration from one hosting provider to another hence direct connectivity between existing hosts and the new ones (proposed hosts) is still not sure.
About any known issues, bugs etc. you might have faced in migrating ASE 16.0 in cross-platform scenario?
Thanks for your valuable insight ,leads and direction.
