Hmm. When I do a SELECT of names from a table and tell it to ORDER BY name, I get this:

 

Ferreira

Ferrer

fields

Figuereo

Finch

 

Looks like a case INsensitive sort to me.

Well, except for the fact that the ASE manual specifically states that when using LIKE, the comparisons will be case sensitive, and if you want it to find both and upper and lower case you have to code the LIKE pattern appropriately. If you believe the manual, then you should expect that all tests will return no. The fact that you constructed a scenario where they all returned yes, that means the manual is wrong. Of course, that has no bearing on the wrongness of the result in the scenario that I was testing.
